ThermaCELL: The Best Bug Repellent ~ Patio Lantern Giveaway!

It's summertime, and it's that time of year when you want to spend most of your time outside. Well for me, I always seem to get eaten alive by bugs. It doesn't matter what bug repellent I spray on myself, none of them seem to work. I guess I'm just too sweet! I came across a wonderful company that finally gave me hope when it comes to fighting off those little suckers... ThermaCELL. ThermaCELL is the most effective mosquito repellent I've tried so far.

About ThermaCELL from their website:
"ThermaCELL® Mosquito Repellent, the most effective area repellent on the market today*, was patented by the Schawbel Corporation in 1999. Rigorous testing in extreme conditions by the U.S. Department of Defense proved ThermaCELL products work as advertised.

ThermaCELL products are up to 98 percent effective in warding off biting insects. The repellent creates a 15 x 15-foot zone of protection against mosquitoes, black flies, sand flies, and no-see-ums.

This award-winning product has been recognized by leading entomologists, outdoor writers, and pediatricians as the solution to making outdoor activities enjoyable. Today, ThermaCELL is sold in 23 countries in North America, Europe, Africa, and Australia.

ThermaCELL’s parent company, the Schawbel Corporation, excels in the discovery and identification of technologies that lead to innovative, patented consumer products. The company’s research, development, and engineering facilities are located in the U.S. and Asia. The Schawbel Corporation has founded or acquired more than 30 businesses and is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of butane-powered products."

I was sent the ThermaCELL Mosquito Patio Lantern with Repellent. I have to say this not only looks great, but it actually works. Even though I live on the 18th floor, for some reason around sunset I would get mosquito's on my balcony. Placing this lantern outside on my balcony completely gets rid of any bites from those pests. It also adds some extra light once it gets dark, without having to plug it into an electrical outlet.

It's up to 98% effective at repelling black flies, mosquitoes, and other flying nuisances. When you're choosing mosquito lamps or bug repellent lights for your patio, consider the benefits of this dual-function outdoor lantern bugs hate.

  • Effective protection from pests: Keeps away up to 98% of mosquitoes and other pests within a 15 x15-foot area, the size of an average patio or deck
  • Safe: No open flames or hot wax, no DEET, approved by U.S. EPA
  • Comfortable: No smelly lotions, sprays, or oils
  • Convenient: Attractive size, portable, lightweight
  • Quiet: Silent operation
  • Dual-function: Repellent and light features can be used together or separately
  • Ideal for backyards, decks, picnics, barbecues, camping, and outdoor parties
  • Mosquito repellent operates on a single butane cartridge (included)
  • The butane warms an insect repellent mat that releases allethrin
  • Allethrin is a synthetic copy of a natural repellent found in pyrethrum flowers, a member of the chrysanthemum family
  • 4 LED lights have "low" and "high" illumination settings; lights operate on 4 AA batteries (not included)
  • Decorative design for patio and backyard entertaining
  • Contains: 1 reusable Mosquito Repellent Patio Lantern, 1 butane cartridge (lasts up to 12 hours), 3 insect repellent mats (lasts up to 4 hours each)
  • Refills sold separately
It came well packaged in a box that was covered in plastic. You could tell that it was a brand new product, and not previously used. Once the box was opened, you could see that everything was held properly in place inside. At the top there were the ThermaCELL Mats which are individually wrapped (3 in total), Butane in a bottle, and 4 batteries. I like that you have a choice of lighting the light with butane, or batteries. I also thought it was nice and professional that they included batteries, instead of having to go out and purchase them separately.

Overall, I'm extremely happy with my new Patio Lantern by ThermaCELL. Now I don't mind sitting on the balcony and watch the sunset! If you would like to check out their other products, and possibly purchase your own ThermaCELL item... click here!

ThermaCELL has been kind enough to offer an extra Patio Lantern for a giveaway. One lucky winner will get a chance to win it! Contest open to both CA/US residents.

  6. I live in WI. Our flippin state bird is the mosquito lol. Is that not reason enough? No? Ok, I like that it uses LED lights. They last forever. I currently use CFLs, but like LEDs better and am working on slowly switching out mine at home. Thanks for the giveaway.
